Enjoying this as a change-up
I'm not old enough to have gone to shows really at all (I was 8 when when Jerry died) so my experience is all from just binge listening to the years and seeing what gets my rocks off and here's the thing...there's something in every era that is truly beautiful and does the job for me. I'll take this summer 1993 burner any day.
Jerry's guitar is crisp, piercing and absolutely haunting, especially as he achingly sings Peggy-O. Nothing wrong with this one...very very enjoyable - especially to mix it up after a long deep dive of some older materials.

Who lost their Acid?
I had attempted to drive from St. Louis to the shows in Oregon for which I had tickets in hand and then to meet a friend at these shows. Ended up with a VW van broken down in the middle of god forsaken Kansas. Started hitchhiking right away but ended up missing the Oregon dates. The first night at Shoreline I couldn't find my friend but somehow got a ticket. Spent the night sleeping on an ant covered hill in the industrial park nearby till a pissed off guard came and woke the few of us sleeping there. A kind brother gave me breakfast of an avocado and onion sandwich. Found my friend for this show and he gave me a 2nd row ticket right in front of Jerry. I only went up for a couple songs in the second set and it was way too intense being that close so I moved back to the lawn where there was more room to move about. I remember the Wang Dang Doodle as a standout and I always liked Way To Go Home for some reason. Seemed like a better show at the time than what it really was but then I had just hitched halfway across the country, found a friend out of a crowd of thousands who gave me a 2nd row seat so you can't blame me for the great memories. At the end of the night I was letting people stream out and told my friend that we should scour the ground for drugs that got left behind. He laughed and said people were careful enough with their drugs that it wouldn't be worth the time. I took literally two steps, looked down on the ground and found a cigarette cellophane with a 1/4 sheet inside. I proved my point and we dropped on the spot and ended up in a hotel in San Jose with some other people watching old time, black and white wrestling on TV. What a trip it was...

sweet shoreline now the googleplex
Gone are the broken eyes we saw through in dreams...I miss the smile high spinner fly dancing days in Mt View. Stella Blue with tears steaming down my face in ecstasy delight, and then sailed home to San Francisco in the night. Happier than a sweet dream....

rain in August
Classic Dead Lore Vol. 2
Me and my buddy Mike were tripping in Arches national park the day before this show when we experienced a beautiful summer desert rain. It was a cooling, soft August desert rain that released the smells and deepened the colors of the flora and was just so wonderful. It really made the dosey doe something special that day.
And then we got in the car and drove to San Francisco. I think it was the last thing in the universe either of us wanted to do was get back in that car. But we had tickets for the Thursday and Friday Shoreline shows and then on Saturday we saw Phish at the Greek in Berkeley. So we obviously got in the car and left sweet Utah behind.
And then on the first night about 28 hours after we left Arches the Dead played at least 6 songs with references to rain. At this August Shoreline show. It doesn't rain in the Bay Area in August. But me and Mike just had big goofy grins because we knew what was going on. It's just the way the universe works sometimes.
Tom Thumb's Blues
Let It Grow
Saint Of Circumstance
This show is actually pretty good and could have been one of the best of the year but it lost some energy in the second set. Great first set. The Wang Dang Doodle absolutely rocks! A burlesque trinket vendor girl was selling goodies during Candyman. Lots of fun was had by all. Check out Phil singing on the He's Gone around 8:30. And yes, awesome Stella Blue and a classic version of the 90's second set closer Around And Around.
And the fact that they encored with the Beatles cover Rain blew me and my buddy Mike's mind. Big goofy grins abound.

this was my last show. i felt i had been away too long, and after the shows up in Or., i felt it was time. i wore a suite to the show, a bell hops uniform from the beverley hills hotel form the 1950's, and in listening the only thing i can think of is the smell of northern cal, almost like an orchard, ....

We drove out to these shows from Colorado after two great shows in Oregon. I was thinking about it as I saw the date on the calendar today.
There was a false ending to He's Gone and it gave me goose bumps.
I will have to give it another listen for old times sake.
